Ordinary Day

gelitami.jpg

Today was just an ordinary day,

I rose with the sun, without delay.

After I dressed and fixed my hair,

Looked at the stairs, my daughter stood there.

She smiled so bright as she greeted me,

"Good morning" she said, "Love you Mommy".

Before I left she said our prayer,

I kissed her goodbye and stroked her hair.

I kissed my son as he slept in his bed,

I drove to work, planned my day ahead.

Voice mails, meetings and all zoomed by,

Hugs from patients brought joy to my eye.

Payables, schedules my mind on so much,

Blessed enough to enjoy hugs and such.

I rushed home and thought of someone,

Whose work on earth was already done.

Ate with my family and checked my mail,

My friend wrote she does without fail.

My son wearing pants, way too long,

Let me hem them as they sang a song.

Daughter sat on my lap, we watched TV,

Did I say she made a card for me?

Painted our nails, talked of today,

It was just an ordinary day.

It now is late and my kids are asleep,

When I kiss them my heart takes a leap.

How fortunate I am, I say,

To have such an ordinary day.
