Wounds to the Heart

Wounds to the heart,

Severe and deep,

Don't let you love,

Don't let you weep.

Scar tissue grows,

Tougher than skin,

Won't let love out,

Won't let love in.

Hearts are covered,

Beat and survive,

No love to flow,

Just stay alive.

You love, they leave,

You love no more,

Protecting hearts,

From pain and gore.

You scarcely live,

No love let in,

I'd rather die,

Then not love again.
